Two New Stories in Russian

January 6, 2014

Following the recent win of the short story Hatchling as Best Translated Story in the Russian Today Is Tomorrow competition, two more of my stories are now available in Russian.

The first is A Star-Studded Sky, which appears in the online magazine The Milky Way.

The second is Eternity Wasted, which appears in the print magazine of the same name, The Milky Way, issue #6. When I get it in the mail, I’ll post a picture.

Want to read these stories in English? They’re all online. Here’s Hatchling. Here’s A Star-Studded Sky. And here’s Eternity Wasted.

Enjoy!

‘Hatchling’ Wins Best Translated Story in Russia

March 27, 2013

The novella, Hatchling, won Best Translated Story (or Best Foreign Story) in the Russian SF competition ‘Today Is Tomorrow’ about the Singularity. All winning stories and runners-up will appear (in Russian) in a special anthology that will be published later this month.

Hatchling is my most-translated story, and if you want to read it in the original English, you’ll find it among other great stories in my recently-published anthology, The Emoticon Generation.

Here’s what the book is about, taken from the back cover:

Guy Hasson’s The Emoticon Generation features seven stories about life-changes brought about by our new electronic generation: stories that blur the borders between our world and science fiction, stories that make you ask, ‘Has this already happened? Is that actually true?’

In this collection you’ll find a man who, after losing his fiancée to a terrible accident, seeks to learn if true love really exists; a girl, hardly a teen, who searches for her father only to learn a terrible truth about herself; a man who wants to immortalize his genius but ends up tricking himself out of it; an old hero whose entire life unravels when the truth about his heroic act is revealed; a harmless birthday gift that triggers a profound search into the depths of a young couple’s relationship; and more.

Guy Hasson is one of the freshest new science fiction authors out there, with a knack for finding the human heart in the biggest ideas.
